There are those guys who are naturally overly romantic and can sweep a woman off her feet in a matter of seconds. And then there’s those men who don’t have a clue when it comes to romance and romantic gestures, and even the mere thought of trying to be romantic sends them into a confused and worrisome state. But women need romance. We crave it. So whether you were born with it or not, you need to find ways to show the romance and give her the love she needs. Here’s some great tips on how to be romantic and make her melt!
1. Leave Her Love Notes
Women love to get little messages from their lovers. Find a small piece of paper- sticky notes work very well- and simply write her something ultra sweet. You know what she likes, but if you need some extra help, here’s some great examples:
- Simply saying “I love you” is always a hit with any women.
- You could write “I love you because ___, ___, and ____”.
- “There are 12 months a year, 30 days a month, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 60 minutes an hour, but only one like you in a lifetime.
- “I’d do anything for you”.
- Tell her how beautiful she looks.
- Tell her how special she is.
If you catch the drift, anything sweet will do. It doesn’t have to be extremely long, just a few simple words that will make her smile. Place it somewhere she will find it instead of just handing it to her, like on the mirror of the bathroom or her car window.
2. Write Her a Love Poem
Just like women love to get little notes, we also love romantic poems. Feel free to write your own- she will love to read something directly from the heart, but you can also find some wonderful lovely poems in books or on the internet. Here’s a beautiful poem from FamilyFriendPoems.com.
Can We Just?
© Gwennie Abra
Can we just run away
Together, just me and you?
Have fun, forever play?
You know, just the two of us?Can we just leave this place?
Just run hand in hand?
Be together all our days?
And never ever look back…Can we just walk
Together under the stars?
I’ll kiss your hand and your lips?
And you can have my heart? Can we just laugh?
Innocent giggles, loving looks?
I’ll have your love and you can have mine?
Because it’s my heart and love you took….
Can we just walk
For hours on end?
We’ll talk about anything?
And we can lay upon your bed…
3. Romantic Dates
When it comes to being more romantic, there’s one thing you never want to overlook: the dates. Don’t take her to the same diner every Wednesday night. Don’t take her to the movies once a month. It’s time to step your game up. Some romantic date ideas include:
- Dinner by candlelight (at home, on the beach, at a fancy restaurant).
- A picnic by the lake.
- Take a trip, just the two of you.
- Go on a lovely dinner cruise.
- See a live show.
- Couples massages.
- Bake together.
- Do something silly like roller blading.
4. Be Spontaneous
There is NOTHING worse than falling into a boring routine, doing the same thing day after day. It’s not just about going on more romantic dates here and there. You should also be spontaneous. Pick her up from work, have her bag packed, and tell her the two of you are going to the Bahamas for the weekend. Surprise her with tickets to her favorite show. Have her come over and have a massage table set up so you can give her a relaxing rub down. There’s SO many different ways to surprise her- and trust me, she will love every bit of it.
5. New Compliments
Yes, she wants to be told she is beautiful every single day. But even that can get boring. She might start to think you’re just saying it because that’s what she wants to hear. Switch things up! Instead of saying “Yes, baby, you’re beautiful” with your same old tone, switch it up and tell her she looks STUNNING in that red dress. Compliment her on her new hairstyle or change of nail polish. Tell her she looks dazzling in her new skirt or that you can’t believe how lucky you are to have her. Trust me! She wants to hear any compliment, about anything, any time of the day.
6. Tell Her Your Feelings
It’s not enough just to tell her compliments (although it is a huge chunk of the puzzle). You also need to let her know your deepest, most romantic feelings- you know, the ooey gooey stuff guys aren’t ‘supposed’ to say- the stuff your guy friends would make fun of you for saying. Tell her how special she is, how much you love her. Go into detail about why you love her and how important she is. It’s important.
7. Give Her a Special Gift
Now, I don’t mean buy her love. That’s NOT the message here. But everyone likes to get sweet gifts every now and then. It makes her feel special AND it’s spontaneous. Double win!
- Just a box of chocolates (or her favorite candy) is always a winner.
- Get her a gift that is specific to her, like the shoes she’s been dying to own or tickets to her favorite band.
8. Do Nice Things for Her
I know it can be annoying when she keeps asking you to change her oil, fix the door, take out the trash, and open that impossible jar of pickles- but you’re the man. You are her superhero, her carpenter, her mechanic- you are everything. So do nice things for her! Something as simple as washing the dishes one night to cleaning out her car. It’s the little things that show how much you care!
9. Keep Courting Her
Just because you’ve been dating for 4 months doesn’t mean you suddenly stop holding the doors for your love or stop telling her how wonderful she is. Keep courting her! It is very important.
10. Send Special Texts
Texting is the new-and-improved way of sending mail, email, etc. So use it to your advantage. Nothing makes a girl smiler faster than when she checks her phone and a message from her boyfriend appears saying “I miss you beautiful!”. Again, it doesn’t have to be anything overwhelmingly long- just a few simple words that will melt her heart. It might not sound like much, but it’s everything to her.
11. Use Photos!
Women. Love. Photos. Especially when it is of her and her special man. Make something special involving pictures. I guarantee it will be a HUGE hit and she’ll never want to put it down.
- Make a photo book with collaged pages.
- Make a large photo canvas of the two of you.
- Simply stick a cute couples photograph in a lovely frame she can put in her room or office.
12. Have FUN
Women can’t stand a guy who hunkers down after a few months of dating and isn’t any fun anymore. That’s why it’s so important to keep things interesting and fun as much as possible. Does she want to go ice skating? Go and have fun- even if it means falling on your face a hundred times. Does she want to be silly and make sugar cookies Friday night? Bake with her and get nice and messy! Maybe she wants to run through the sprinklers on a hot day? Again I say- GO HAVE FUN! It’s the small things like this that keeps relationships fun and exciting.
13. Get Physical
So many relationships fail because there is simply no physical attention anymore. She wants you to touch her in a sensual and romantic way. She wants to feel sexy, loved, and wanted. There’s a lot of ways to do this:
- Come up behind her and give her a hug. Move the hair away from her neck and give her a kiss.
- Just walk up, grab her, look deep in her eyes and kiss her.
- Sensually dance with her, hips swaying side to side, run her hand across her back.
- Touch her delicately while telling her how beautiful she is.
14. Romance in the Bedroom
Ok, sometimes it’s fun to just get raunchy with your partner- but don’t forget there is a time and a place for that, just like there is a time and a place to be overly romantic. We’re talking candles around the room, rose petals on the bed, and staring into each others eyes for 15 minutes just telling each other how much you care for one another and kissing softly. She needs this- believe me. She’ll love it even more if you surprise her with it!
15. Time Apart
I know this might be a little surprising, but you know what they say “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”. And this couldn’t be any more true. Spend some time apart and watch how the sparks fly when you finally come together again. It really works!
